Samoan Language Week

This week was Samoan Language Week. In Room 6 we learnt a lot about Samoa and the Samoan culture. We watched videos which taught us about Samoan language. We learnt how to say the alphabet, animals and body parts in Samoan! We also learnt that the Samoan alphabet only had 17 letters. At reading time we went on a scavenger hunt to look for clues about the Samoan culture and made it into a puzzle. Here are some pictures.

Learning how to Measure in Maths

On Thursday for maths room 6 learnt about measurement. We learnt about areas and perimeters. First we had a metre square and we saw how many people can fit in the square. 4 people could sit in the square comfortably. We then estimated how big is the classroom. We got a variety of estimates but the answer was around 85 metres. We had lots of fun doing this. Here are some pictures.

Science in a Van

This week was science week in our school and science in a van came over. They taught us about the periodic table and showed us lots of fun and interesting science experiments. We even got to see a cloud close up indoors! We had lots of fun. Here are some photos.

For R.E room 6 has been busy making these colourful triangles that show us the three gifts of God. Faith, Hope and Love. We also learnt about Baptism and the Holy Spirit. You receive the gifts of God when you are baptised. Here is my triangle.

This term the class has been working on the water cycle. We have learnt about the 3 main stages which are Precipitation, Evaporation and Condensation. Here is a picture to show our learning.

For topic we have been learning about staying sunsmart. We all got into teams of 2 and we made a poster about one of the slip, slop, slap and wrap. I got paired up with Matthew and we made a poster about hats. Here it is.
