Haiku Poems at Writing

Haiku Poems

This term room 6 has been learning about all the different types of poems. Each week we have been sent off to write a specific poem. This week we got to write a haiku poem which is originally from Japan. A haiku is usually written about nature. Here is my haiku.

Chickens, Cows and Cats
Chickens go cluck, cluck
Cows like going moo, moo, moo

And cats just go meow.

Year Five Retreat

Retreat

On 31st October all the year fives from Good Shepherd School went to the St Francis Retreat Centre to learn more about God. We started off with a prayer and lit small candles. Then we got into pairs and played the leaf game. I was with Sophie and we had to find the right tree that matches it's leaves. We had morning tea and then did a fun scavenger hunt around the garden. We had to stick together until we finished. We had lunch and played around for a bit until we had to go back to school. Everyone had such a fun time thanks to St Francis Retreat Centre! Here are some photos.

The GSS Speech Finals

Speech Finals

On Wednesday 4th September it was the Good Shepherd School speech finals. I was one of the 3 finalists and it was my 1st time presenting a speech to the whole school. I was very nervous but excited for this moment. The other 2 finalists were Coco from room 9 and Miranda from room 6. All 3 of us were shaking when listening to the younger kids present their speeches. When it was my turn they announced my speech topic was about me being vertically challenged. It was so much fun and I ended up coming 2nd from my year group. Miranda came first and Mia was our overall winner. I had so much fun. Here are some pictures.

Mixed Media, Visual Arts

You Hold the Future in your Hands

In Term 2 our Visual Arts focused was on Mixed Media. We finally finished our pieces of art at the end of the term. We started off by creating two hands, most of us copied our own hands as templates. One hand represents our past and the other hand our future. We used lots of different materials and symbols to make our artwork as well as exploring a range of different techniques with watercolour paint. This is my art work.
